One Day Development Programs

Since 2017, the BGDA has hosted its annual Development Day. This one day debating program is open to all BGDA-eligible  students in grades 10-12, even those who do not compete in the Monday Competition. This program was created for three main reasons:

1. To provide students with an opportunity to participate who otherwise would not be able to benefit from the BGDA's programs due to factors such as distance, inability to form a full team of eligible debaters at their school, or time constraints
2. To give students who have never debated before the chance to try out debating in a supportive environment
3. To encourage female debaters to participate in and prepare them for the upcoming Queensland State Debating Team trials, which are typically held the week after Development Day

In the following years, Development Day has grown to be an important event on the Queensland debating calendar that brings together girls from different schools and year levels to socialise, learn from each other, and share in a love of debating. This year, the BGDA is expanding it's development days into four different programs to cater to all female debaters in Brisbane.
